EXPERIENCE

CCSI Technology Solutions

Systems Analyst Sept 13, 2000- Present

Currently I’m working for CCSI at Encana. I had spent 2000-2005 providing first and second level support to over 5000 employees at Shell Canada. For the last two years at Encana I’ve been working in Data Storage and Backup/Recovery. Primary responsibilities are monitoring and troubleshooting backup and restore issues, maintaining and debugging StorageTek tape silos and dealing with day to day storage operational issues and requests.

ISM Information Systems Management Corp.

Desktop Services Jan 21 1999-May 13 2000

For this work practicum I worked with the internal desktop services department. I supported over 200 Windows 95 users in a Novell/NT environment. My responsibilities were troubleshooting network connectivity, Windows 95, identifying hardware failures and configuring new systems. An example of a typical problem I encountered was a particular users system that could not connect to the network. I identified that the Gateway was incorrect by the users IP address. I also become knowledgeable of ISM help desk software.

I had an immediate impact on the team. I was recognized for my ability to grasp new concepts quickly and applying new skills.

EDS Systemhouse Inc.

Associate Technical Representative Oct 27 1998-Aug 31 1999

I joined the team of EDS at the Staging Area. The company was in the middle of a large rollout for the Government Of Manitoba. I helped EDS deploy over 7000 desktops. In this role I utilized my education and experience configuring Windows 95/NT desktops and installing hardware and software. This knowledge was useful for quickly preparing extra systems at the last minute. Also, I took on other responsibilities such tracking equipment, ensuring the delivery of equipment and coordinating deployment needs with the sales department. Another responsibility was assisting users in remote areas in the setup and configuration of systems over the phone. This saved EDS the cost of sending a technician to sites on a number of occasions. I enhanced my communication skills in terms of interacting with clients in a way they could easily understand and relate to.

Winnipeg Technical College

After graduating I was asked by my instructor to apply for a temporary position at the college. In this role I utilized my experience and connected new classrooms to the network and configured the systems specifically for the instructors needs. I also assisted in changing the network from Token Ring to Ethernet. I was responsible for daily server backups of Novell, NT and Unix servers. I was given the responsibility of Acting Network Administrator when the incumbent went on vacation for a month. In this capacity I was the sole supporter of the administrative and academic departments. I fully utilized my skills for troubleshooting hardware and network connectivity issues. In addition I also supported Office 97 and Lotus Notes.
